Powered by Mercury Racing’s awesome 1650 QC4V power plant, the Merc Force team is still celebrating after claiming Outright honours in this year’s Bridge to Bridge Water Ski Classic.
Owner-driver Don Gulley, observer Kevin Boylan and skiers Kristofer Knights and Jake Tegart covered the 112 kilometre course along the beautiful Hawkesbury River in 38 minutes 46 seconds to finish first in the Super Class competition to take Outright honours as well.
“Don’s put his heart and soul into ski racing for such a long time so it was great to see him clinch victory in such a huge race,” said Mercury Racing’s Regional Sales Manager Peter Massina.
“Don and his team have made a big statement.”
So too did Mercury Racing’s 9.0 litre, quad cam, four-valve 1650, which also drove home Super Class and Outright runner-up Stinga F1, which crossed the line just 23 seconds behind.
Third in Super Class was Top Gun its 1350 QC4V which made it three out of three for Mercury Racing.
And there was plenty more.
The Unlimited Inboard category was won by TR which was also propelled by a Mercury Racing 1350, and Mercury outboards produced a brilliant set out results – including a triple trifecta.
In the Unlimited Outboard, Mercury finished 1-2-3 with Judgemental powered with twin 2.5 litre Mercury outboards winning ahead of Shooter and Mad Ranga both powered with Mercury 300XS outboards.
In MOC it was a similar result with Speed Lab, Running Riot and Against the Grain claiming the top three spots, all driven home by Mercury 300XS outboards.
And again in the F2 category, Showbiz, In Strife and Impulsive – all with Mercury 300XS power plants – completed another clean sweep of the trophies.
Still Sparken and Revolution Racing 110 clinched first and second in the Under 16 Girls competition, both with 300XS outboards.
While Melt Down, boasting A Mercury Racing 700 SCi sterndrive, clinched gold in the Under 19 Girls.
